Installing a helmet camera mount – 5 steps, no drilling
Installing a helmet mount takes a few minutes, and you don't need to drill into the helmet. What matters most is a clean mounting surface and a 24-hour curing time before riding (72 hours if the tape is not warmed).
You need
- an RM Gear mount for your helmet model (3M VHB tape pre-attached)
- the alcohol wipe from the package
- a hair dryer to warm the tape slightly
Installation
- Try where the mount fits best on the chin of your helmet.
- Clean the chin of the helmet with the alcohol wipe from the package.
- Remove the red protective film from the tape and gently warm the tape with a hairdryer for about 5–10 seconds. The tape should be warm, not hot.
- Press the mount onto the chin of your helmet with gentle pressure.
- Let the tape cure for at least 24 hours before attaching the camera and riding. If you did not warm the tape, let it cure for 72 hours.
- Attach the camera to the adapter and adjust the angle with the extension arms – show the world how you do it.
Safety and maintenance
- Attach the included safety tether for extra security.
- Check that the mount is secure before every ride.
- Replace the 3M tape about every two years – replacement tapes (3 tapes + 2 alcohol wipes).
