Installing a helmet camera mount – 5 steps, no drilling

Installing a helmet mount takes a few minutes, and you don't need to drill into the helmet. What matters most is a clean mounting surface and a 24-hour curing time before riding (72 hours if the tape is not warmed).

You need

  • an RM Gear mount for your helmet model (3M VHB tape pre-attached)
  • the alcohol wipe from the package
  • a hair dryer to warm the tape slightly

Installation

  1. Try where the mount fits best on the chin of your helmet.
  2. Clean the chin of the helmet with the alcohol wipe from the package.
  3. Remove the red protective film from the tape and gently warm the tape with a hairdryer for about 5–10 seconds. The tape should be warm, not hot.
  4. Press the mount onto the chin of your helmet with gentle pressure.
  5. Let the tape cure for at least 24 hours before attaching the camera and riding. If you did not warm the tape, let it cure for 72 hours.
  6. Attach the camera to the adapter and adjust the angle with the extension arms – show the world how you do it.

Safety and maintenance

  • Attach the included safety tether for extra security.
  • Check that the mount is secure before every ride.
  • Replace the 3M tape about every two years – replacement tapes (3 tapes + 2 alcohol wipes).

FAQ

Do I need to drill into the helmet? No. The mount attaches with the pre-applied 3M VHB tape.

Will it hold at speed? The model-specific shape and industrial-grade 3M VHB tape give a secure, vibration-free hold when the installation instructions are followed.
