Helmet camera mount – how to choose the right one for your motorcycle helmet
The best angle for motorcycle video usually comes from the chin of the helmet: the camera sees the road from the rider's eye level, with the handlebars and dashboard in the shot. Most important of all, the mount has to fit the shape of your helmet.
1. Choose the mount by helmet model
A universal mount fits a curved chin poorly, which leaves only a small bonding surface. RM Gear mounts are designed separately for each helmet model, and the 3M VHB tape comes pre-cut and pre-attached in the right place.
- Find your helmet brand and model in our camera mount range.
- If your model is not listed, contact our customer service – we add new models all the time.
- 100% fit guarantee: if the mount doesn't fit your helmet, you get your money back.
2. Check the camera mounting
The mounts work with GoPro, DJI and other action cameras with a standard mount. Insta360 cameras also need a separately sold Insta360 adapter.
3. Make sure the camera angle can be adjusted
Without extension arms the camera easily points too low, for example straight at your toes. An RM Gear helmet mount package already includes:
- a helmet-specific mount with 3M VHB tape pre-attached
- a camera adapter (quick-release buckle) and a J-hook adapter
- a short and a long extension arm
- screws, a safety tether, an alcohol wipe and installation instructions
4. Material and warranty
The mounts are designed and made in Finland from a carbon-fibre-reinforced composite that withstands UV, rain, mud and temperatures from frost to heat. Helmet mounts have a 5-year warranty against manufacturing and material defects.
Once you have chosen your mount, see the step-by-step installation guide.
Note: the mount is not personal protective equipment and is not an accessory approved by the helmet manufacturer.
